WWE star Randy Orton has auditioned for a major role in Deadpool 2

Randy Orton has been with WWE for over 20 years and is a proven performer within the company. He has won every major championship and headlined many major matches throughout his career. He recently re-signed with WWE for another five years. He has appeared in a few movies throughout his career, as wrestlers often do, and even auditioned for Deadpool 2.

During his interview with current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on the recent episode of What Do You Want To Talk About?, Orton surprised Rhodes with some facts about his career, but also his desire to move more into Hollywood like John Cena and to land auditions. One of the auditions Orton attended was for the role of Cable in the Deadpool sequel.

“So I’m doing auditions here and there, and I remember I got an audition really early on when I finally got representation in this industry,” Orton explained. “I think Deadpool 2–”

Rhodes interrupted him. “The cable?”

“Cable,” Orton agreed. “I studied for Cable, and in my head, man, I was going to be Cable. I was going to be Cable. I was like, 'This is it.' No. No callbacks, nothing. Josh Brolin gets it because of course Josh Brolin gets it. He rocks. I don't know what the hell I'm doing. And then I realized, 'Oh, okay, I can send these auditions, but I'm a professional wrestler.' I think I love being a professional wrestler and everything it's given me. I don't think I'll ever leave this place.”

Given Orton's career, he's the top pick for a Hall of Fame spot if he decides to hang up his boots for good. Throughout the nearly hour-long conversation, the two discuss John Cena's final match, Randy's obsession with Elden Ring, and how he felt he needed to mature as a man.

Randy's next big match is against Gunther at Bash in Berlin for the World Heavyweight Championship.
