The bodybuilder known as “The Mutant” is dead at the age of 36

The famous Belarusian bodybuilder Illia “Golem” Yefimcsik, who was known as the “most terrible” bodybuilder in the world, died of a heart attack at the age of 36, local media reported this week. Yefimchik, who also went by the nickname “The Mutant,” said he was inspired by the physiques of Hollywood stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.

The death of the 340-kilogram giant was reported by the Russian newspaper Merchantthrough The Daily Mailin which it was stated that he had a heart attack at home on September 6 and then fell into a coma. His wife Anna performed chest compressions while waiting for an ambulance before being airlifted to hospital.

“The whole time I was praying, hoping that Illia would recover,” his widow told local Belarusian media. “I spent every day by his side hoping, and for two days his heart started beating again, but the doctor gave me the terrible news that he was brain dead.”

Anna thanked everyone for their condolences. “It's very heartwarming to realize that I'm not alone in this world and so many people have offered me help and support,” she added.

His death was also reported on Wednesday by the @whoisthebestbb bodybuilding Instagram account. “Close sources confirm the death of Illia Golem, the 340-pound beast,” the post reads.

Yefimchyk has become known in the bodybuilding community for his impressive bulk, boasting 25-inch biceps, a 23-inch neck, 33-inch thighs, a 61-inch chest, and a 38-inch waist. He achieved his impressive stature by bench pressing 600 kilos, deadlifting 700 kilos and squatting 700 kilos. His diet wasn't for the faint of heart either, eating around 16,500 calories a day, including more than 100 slices of sushi and five and a half kilos of steak.
