The American Pie star hopes kids won't watch it until they're in college

The problem when you're young is that you're starring in a cheesy teen comedy, maybe one day you'll have to come to the harsh realization that your kids can watch the movie. American Pie Now star Alyson Hannigan is learning that the hard way.

Hannigan has two daughters, 15-year-old Satyana and 12-year-old Kiev. Buffy the Vampire Slayer costar and her husband of 20 years, Alexis Denisof. And while the 50-year-old was more than happy to name-drop Taylor Swift's cult film So High School, a track from the singer's 2024 album. A class of tortured poetsshe's glad her kids aren't interested in watching it yet.

“When they were in elementary school, there was a period where they both wanted to see things that we were into, like Buffy or whatever, and they were too young,” Hannigan said Us Weekly this week while announcing a new partnership with Kevin's Natural Foods.

He explained that while the couple wanted to wait until the girls were older to see their work, he thought it would be OK for them to watch the 1987 music video for George Harrison's “Got My Mind Set On You,” which Denisof was featured in. this didn't go down too well with her daughters.

“I accidentally traumatized them by showing them a video my husband made when he was 17,” she recalled. “Little teenager. Adorable, though [his character is] try to catch this girl's eye in your arcade. And something happened when they saw where they didn't like to see their father – although he is a teenager, he doesn't look like he does now – flirting with someone else.

“And they immediately said, 'Hmm, we don't want to watch it How I Met Mother. Because I married somebody else and something changed and they don't want to see us with anybody else,” Hannigan continued. “So I was kind of freaked out! I was like, 'Awesome!' And it was him, not me. So perfect!”

“They haven't mentioned that they want to see it, but they know how exciting it is. Taylor may have piqued their interest, but not in a way that was mentioned,” he added American Pie. “That's what I'm most afraid of. Hopefully I can ride it out until they go to college.”

With any luck, Hannigan won't have to hear her kids utter the phrase “Once upon a time at gang camp” until they're in their 30s, if ever.
