Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Still In The Works, Developer Says

The Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake hasn't seen much public progress since its announcement in 2021. There were even rumors that the KOTOR reboot was no longer in development. But now that developer Saber Interactive has parted ways with Embracer Group, the company has secured a new round of investment that will allow it to continue working on KOTOR and other projects.

Saber Interactive announced in a press release that private equity firms Aleph Capital Partners and Crestview Partners have both made a “significant equity investment” in the company. The amount of the investment was not disclosed, but the announcement said it will allow Saber Interactive to repay the debt it owed to Embracer Group following the acquisition. Saber Interactive also has 13 different studios around the world.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been announced as one of Saber Interactive's upcoming titles alongside Jurassic Park: Survival, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, RoadCraft, and Tempest Rising. However, there is still no date for the KOTOR remake.

Aspyr Media, which has already ported several classic Star Wars games to modern consoles, was originally set to handle the KOTOR remake. However, internal development issues led to the remake being shelved indefinitely. Saber Interactive joined the project in 2022, and it should see smoother development now that the company's immediate future is secure.
