Merge Games has announced the closure of its Chelford office, with an unknown number of staff affected by the redundancies.
In the statement to GamesIndustry.bizMaximum Entertainment CEO Christina Seelye said it was part of its consolidation strategy that began earlier this year.
This includes the integration of the remaining Merge Games portfolio into Maximum Entertainment.
“In the context of previously announced reductions, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to take additional cost-cutting measures, which unfortunately include layoffs,” Seelye said.
“As a recently integrated company with a complete and competitive roadmap ahead of us, we need to finish the year and enter 2025 stronger and leaner to continue doing our best work.”
In February 2023, Zordix relaunched its gaming division under the name Maximum Entertainment. It involved the unification of the publishers Maximum Games, Modus Games, Just For Games and Merge Games, as well as the developer Modus Studios under the parent brand.
