James Earl Jones, beloved star of The Lion King and Field of Dreams, dies at 93

James Earl Jones, the beloved actor who accomplished countless feats in Hollywood, has died. Deadline reported the news citing a representative of the Independent Artist Group. Jones reportedly died at home in Duchess County, New York. He was 93 years old.

Jones is widely regarded as a giant of the stage and screen. He voiced Darth Vader Star Wars and Mufasa be the lion king featured in such classics as field of dreams COnan the barbarian, coming to america and Hunt for Red October.

He reprized his iconic voice role in recent years, and in 2016 he once again voiced Darth Vader. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and 2019 Star Wars: IX episode – The Rise of Skywalker. He returned to Mufasa for Disney's 2019 live-action remake The Lion King.

Jones is an EGOT winner, one of a small group of professionals who have won Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys. This included four competitive Tony Awards, an honorary Academy Award, two competitive Emmy Awards, and a Grammy Award. He is also a SAG-AFTRA and National Board of Review Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
