GTA 6 still scheduled for fall 2025

As part of Take-Two's latest earnings briefing, the company reconfirmed that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI, one of the most anticipated games of the coming years, remains on track for a fall 2025 release. A slide in the company's earnings press release indicates that the game hasn't changed.

Over the past decade, every Rockstar Games title has been delayed beyond their originally announced release dates, but as of yet, GTA VI has yet to be delayed (at least not in terms of publicly announced release dates). There has been speculation that GTA VI could be delayed in part due to Rockstar implementing a return-to-office policy, but the game remains on track. The ongoing strike by video game actors, which has been cited over concerns about AI, does not affect GTA VI.

Take-Two also confirmed in its earnings release that GTA V has sold “more than” 200 million copies, the same figure it announced three months ago. This could suggest that the game is finally slowing down in terms of sales pace. Take-Two also reported that the GTA franchise has now sold 430 million copies worldwide, up from 425 million three months ago.

Take-Two also said that it expects GTA Online revenue to decline in the future. Again, this is likely a testament to the maturity of the product. Even the most popular games eventually slow down, and GTA V and GTA Online are no exception.

GTA V is the biggest video game in history, analyst says. “There's probably never been a bigger release in the industry, so no pressure,” Circana's Mat Piscatella said.

However, not all competitors are afraid of GTA VI. Ubisoft, for its part, has stated that it is looking forward to the release of GTA VI because such a massive game can help boost sales for the entire video game industry.
