Galar starters and Dynamax Pokémon are soon to make their debut in Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go's Max Out seasonal event begins in September and will bring Pokémon Sword & Shield starters and Dynamax Pokémon to the game.

A new trailer shows Sword & Shield's Scorbunny, Grookey, and Sobble walking through the streets before a Dynamax Pokémon follows them in pursuit of the Galar starter trio.

Pokémon Go's Max Out seasonal update will allow players to choose Scorbunny, Grookey, or Sobble in a new Special Research that will branch out into all-new story paths.

Players will be able to participate in one-star Dynamax battles. The Pokémon that will appear in one-star battles are:

  • Bulbasaur
  • Charmander
  • Squirtle
  • Skwovet
  • Wool

These Pokémon captured in Max Battles, as well as their evolutions, can only be Dynamaxed in Max Battles. Shiny variants are also available for capture.

All the Pokémon that will be making their Galar region debut in the Max Out update are:

  • Grookey
  • Thwackey
  • Rillaboom
  • Flambino
  • Plane
  • Cinderella
  • Sob
  • Drizzle
  • Inteleon
  • Sad
  • Drakloak
  • Dragapult

The Pokémon that will appear most frequently during wild encounters are:

  • Grookey
  • Flambino
  • Sob
  • Skwovet
  • Wool
  • Sad

The Max Out Special Research will be available to all trainers at the start of the event and will require players to obtain Max Particles. Starting now, players can start collecting Max Particles that appear at Power Points around the map to earn rewards.

The new season brings new accessories, battle styles focused on Galar Pokémon, attack damage changes, and more.

The Max Out season begins on September 3 and continues until December 3.

Pokémon Sword and Shield is the first mainline Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch. Sword & Shield takes place in the Galar region with new Pokémon, locations, and characters.
