Horror fans who came to New York Comic Con looking for information on Five Nights At Freddy's 2 did not go home disappointed. Although filming on Blumhouse's sequel to the hit film Five Nights At Freddy's has yet to begin, fans were treated to the first poster for the film's sequel. Additionally, the studio has confirmed that the release date is December 5, 2025.
For the uninitiated, it would be easy to assume that the animatronic killer seen in the poster is simply Freddy Fazbear. But it's actually Toy Freddy, one of the major additions to the 2014 video game Five Nights at Freddy's 2. This lends even more credence to previous reports that the movie sequel draws influence from the game that shares his name.
Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson are both confirmed to reprise their respective roles as William Afton and Mike Schmidt in the sequel. Additionally, Piper Rubio is expected to return as Mike's sister Abby, as is Elizabeth Lali as Vanessa, although her character is left in a comatose state at the end of the last film.
Hutcherson recently said the sequel would have a much scarier tone than the original film, while Lillard told Collider the film would begin shooting in November. He also called the sequel's storyline “fantastic”. Five Nights At Freddy's director Emma Tammi will also return to direct the sequel from a script she co-wrote with series creators Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback.
