Dynasty Warriors, the next installment in Koei Tecmo's hack-and-slash series, is almost here. Announced as part of Sony's September State of Play, Dynasty Warriors: Origins is set to release on January 17, 2025.
Along with its release date, Sony also gave fans plenty of new footage of the game and more context regarding its story. Set before the Yellow Turban Rebellion, the game focuses on the rise of Zhang Jiao and explores the events that led up to that infamous event. While the game retains its signature musou-style combat, the footage shown in the new trailer hints at a bit more tactical depth.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the tenth main title in the Dynasty Warriors series and serves as a follow-up to 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9. As the name suggests, Origins takes place at the beginning of the Dynasty Warriors timeline. As of now, the game is confirmed to be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Other State of Play announcements include a remastered Soul Reaver 1+2 collection, a Ghost of Tsushima sequel called Ghost of Yotei, sleek new colors for the DualSense, and updates to existing hit games, such as the upcoming free Astro Bot DLC.
