Avatar 3 Gets Official Title at D23

Avatar 3 may have skipped Comic-Con 2024, but it's coming out in full force at D23. Director James Cameron and stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana took the stage to share the first details about Avatar 3, which now has an official name. It's going to be called Avatar: Fire and Ash.

With the film still early in its post-production, there was no new footage to show. However, Cameron and his team did show a production trailer before revealing the film's title.

“I can’t wait to show you what we’ve created for Avatar 3,” Cameron said. “Every day, when I see the new shots that come in from the visual effects teams, it’s like Christmas morning… The emotional stakes are really high, more so than ever before.”

Cameron also teased new biomes, new settings, new creatures, and more Pandora than we've ever seen before. He added that among the new characters will be one that audiences will “love to hate.” He concluded his presentation by saying, “The new movie is not what we expect. But it's definitely what we want.”

Avatar: Fire and Ashes will be released on December 19, 2025.
