Argonaut Games returns as publisher after 20 years

Argonaut Games returns as a boutique publisher after two decades with a console and PC remaster of Croc Legend of the Gobbos.

Launched in 1997, the game is the first in a “planned line of classic Argonaut IPs and exciting titles for both contemporary and retro gaming platforms”.

Founded by Jez San in 1982, Argonaut is known for developing the Starglider and Star Fox series for the SNES in 1993. The studio closed in 2004 after a round of layoffs.

“I'm excited to see the Argonaut name gone after twenty years,” said San. “Argonaut has always been about pushing the boundaries of what's possible in games. I'm excited to see how Argonaut Games' relaunched games build on that legacy, starting with the Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster.”

Argonaut co-CEO Gary Sheinwald added: “I worked closely with Jez on the design and production of Starglider, the first big hit of Argonaut in 1986, so taking on the mantle of relaunching Argonaut Games almost four decades later brings me full circle. “
