Adam Sandler offered fans an update Happy Gilmore 2 during its release on August 20 The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. During the conversation, Sandler confirmed that Travis Kelce will make a cameo in the sequel, after he was cast in the role alongside Sandler.
“Good,” Sandler replied when Fallon asked how the sequel, which begins filming next month in New Jersey, is going. “We worked hard on the script, man,” the comedian admitted. “We didn't want to let anyone down.”
Sandler explained that “people have been asking him to a Happy Gilmore! continuation “for a long time”, but until recently he was not tempted by the idea. “I was always like, 'Nah,'” he admitted.
But things changed when Sandler and longtime friend Tim Herlihy pitched the idea for a sequel. Herlihy wrote the original Happy Gilmore! Alongside Sandler, many of the actor's most iconic early films and several more recent efforts.
“We are very excited about this. We wrote our asses off,” Sandler said of the upcoming sequel. “We're still trying to make it a movie that people will like,” he told the audience.
“You said there would be some cameos,” Fallon teased. “You know, Travis Kelce wants to be a part of it. He mentioned it on his podcast.”
“Yeah, Travis mentioned it,” Sandler admitted, “and there's something good about Travis.” It will come.”
In an episode New Heights In May, Kelce expressed his excitement about his appearance on a podcast Happy Gilmore 2. “I didn't even know there was a job Happy Gilmore 2Kelce admitted on the show. “If there is, I'll be a crazy extra,” he emphasized. “To get around anything Happy Gilmore!Adam Sandler movie or set, count me in. I will do anything in the film. I will be a part of it as much as I can.”
Sandler told the Fallon audience that Kelce is “a really nice guy, you want him in real life. What a handsome guy,” she continued. “It's funny and cool as hell. He is a stud and so funny.”
Earlier Tuesday, in front of Sandler Tonight's Show appearance, Happy Gilmore! Fans flocked to a New Jersey hotel to audition as extras for the film. Everyone else will have to wait to get a glimpse of the anticipated sequel, as Netflix has yet to announce a release date.
